Judge Thomas Gibbs Gee Award
This award honors Baker Botts alumni, Judge Thomas Gibbs Gee, who practiced with our Appellate group in the Houston office during his time with the firm. Judge Gee presided over the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit from 1973 to his retirement from the bench in 1991. He was a Lieutenant in the United States Army Air Corps and also served in the U.S. Air Force before joining Baker Botts. He practiced with the firm until his death in 1994. We honor his memory, as well as his many contributions to the firm and our country, by commemorating this pro bono award in his name.
The Judge Thomas Gibbs Gee Award is given annually to one or more lawyers and/or staff members in each Baker Botts office in recognition of an outstanding pro bono legal counsel during the previous year. In addition, the firm contributes a donation in the recipient's name to the charity of their choice.
