Ian Jelsma's practice focuses on private equity matters, including fund formations and private equity sponsored mergers and acquisitions, as well as complex project and JV structuring matters. Mr. Jelsma has extensive experience representing private equity fund sponsors in connection with the formation of private investment funds and related holding structures, as well as structuring and negotiating private equity sponsored mergers and acquisitions, complex limited partnerships, and LLC investment and joint venture vehicles. In addition, Mr. Jelsma has advised clients in connection with the formation, structuring, and negotiation of complex project joint ventures, with a focus on complex, multi-tiered partnership structures. Mr. Jelsma has advised clients in a variety of industries, including upstream and midstream oil and gas, oilfield services, healthcare, manufacturing, infrastructure, real estate, agriculture, and food and restaurants.
For seven years prior to entering practice, Mr. Jelsma was a member of the central management team of a niche technology oilfield services company with principal operations in the Former Soviet Union. Mr. Jelsma helped lead the company's negotiations and closed a growth capital injection from a Houston-based private equity firm and the acquisition of the company's leading competitor.
