DALLAS, June 26, 2020 – Baker Botts L.L.P., a leading international law firm, announced today that D CEO magazine featured Christa Brown-Sanford, a firm partner, Co-Chair of the Diversity & Inclusion Committee, and Deputy Chair of the Intellectual Property Department, in its June/July 2020 issue. The Dallas-based publication’s article “Power Shift” highlights Ms. Brown-Sanford as one of three Black women redefining what leadership looks like as well as her appointment as President-Elect of the Junior League of Dallas, one of “the region’s most revered civic institutions.”
In the article, D CEO labeled her as “The Pioneer.” Ms. Brown-Sanford is slated to take the helm as President of the Junior League of Dallas in 2021. She will be its first Black woman President, a historic moment as the League celebrates its 100th anniversary.
“If I can help the League gain exposure with pockets of women where we’re not as well-known…if I can make change that way, that would be huge for the future of the League,” Ms. Brown-Sanford said. “That would be the ultimate way to give back to an organization that’s been such an important part of my life.”
The Junior League of Dallas is one of the city’s most influential civic groups, but when Ms. Brown-Sanford originally joined, there were few people of color. As the League’s President, she will bring a new perspective to leadership.
“I want the communities we serve, the city, and other leaders to see that African American women…women of color are a part of this, too,” Ms. Brown -Sanford said.
At Baker Botts, Ms. Brown-Sanford also has a full-time patent practice, with the ability to advise on several different issues – working together with her clients to be a true counselor. She provides guidance on patent procurement, patent portfolio development, patent litigation, and patent licensing – particularly involving telecommunications, blockchain, electronics, artificial intelligence, semiconductors, software, personal mobility, and other cutting-edge technologies.
