DALLAS, January 22, 2019 – Baker Botts L.L.P., a leading international law firm, is pleased to announce the National Bankruptcy Conference (NBC) has elected Dallas-based Partner Omar Alaniz to the Conference.
The NBC is an organization composed of 60 leading judges, professors, and practitioners in the country, formed in the 1930's at the request of Congress to assist in the drafting of major Depression-era bankruptcy law amendments. It also includes former members of the congressional staff who participated in drafting the Bankruptcy Code. It has been a resource to Congress on every significant piece of bankruptcy legislation for nearly 80 years. Membership in the NBC is by invitation only. Omar is the only Texas-based bankruptcy practitioner member of the NBC.
Mr. Alaniz is the Former Chair of the Texas State Bar’s Bankruptcy Section and Dallas Bankruptcy Bar. He represents debtors and creditors in Chapter 11 cases and has substantial experience in bankruptcy-related litigation and appeals. In 2017, the American Bankruptcy Institute included Omar in its inaugural list of the top “40 Under 40” insolvency professionals in the country. He received his J.D. from The University of Texas.
