Ms. Brown’s practice handles federal estate, gift and income tax litigation and controversy work, including disputes and litigation with the Department of Justice and the Internal Revenue Service. She assists clients in cases in the United States Tax Court, United States District Courts and United States Courts of Appeals. Ms. Brown also represents fiduciaries of trusts and estates in state courts with respect to administration and fiduciary duty issues.
In addition to her tax practice, Ms. Brown serves as chair of Baker Botts’ Houston pro bono committee, and her leadership role in coordinating the private bar’s pro bono response to Hurricane Harvey illustrates her true commitment to service. She worked with Lone Star Legal Aid and the Houston Bar Association in the days following the hurricane to recruit attorneys to help those affected by the flood. In addition, she arranged products and supplies to be distributed to shelters in the Houston area and coordinated disaster training for lawyers who wanted to help.
Out of nearly 500 submissions across all industries, only 40 individuals achieved the recognition of being honored as a “40 Under 40” talented young professional. Judges scored nominees on leadership, overcoming challenges and community involvement.
Ms. Brown was recognized at the 40 Under 40 Awards on June 7th.
