WASHINGTON, April 27, 2016 - Baker Botts L.L.P., a leading international law firm today announced that its Intellectual Property (IP) practice has published a summary of Supreme Court ground breaking hearing Cuozzo Speed Technologies, LLC v. Lee, on the firm’s Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB) Trials Blog.
The post, “PTAB Scrutinized in Cuozzo Supreme Court Argument,” summarizes Monday’s Supreme Court hearing where the subject was on the appeal of the very first inter partes review (IPR) petition filed with the PTAB and the first Final Written Decision ever authored by the PTAB in an IPR.
Baker Botts Palo Alto based partner Eliot Williams, who appears frequently before the PTAB, stated in a Law.com article that the hearing was, “the first chance to get a read on what the justices think of the PTAB generally and whether they’re on the right track.” Williams added, “I certainly don’t see enough votes to reverse on the [broadest-reasonable-interpretation] issue if the questions reflect the judges’ thinking.”
Launched earlier this year, Baker Botts’ PTAB Trials Blog - PTABBlog.law - focuses on news, trends and analysis of PTAB proceedings from Baker Botts award winning Intellectual Property lawyers. It covers the latest developments in Inter Partes Review (IPR), Post-Grant Review (PGR), and Covered Business Method Review (CBMR).
With over 180 lawyers and staff dedicated to IP, holding over 200 advanced degrees, Baker Botts’ IP practice provides unparalleled service, experience and capability in the high technology and life sciences field.
