DALLAS, January 20, 2016 - Baker Botts L.L.P., a leading international law firm, announced today that its client, GENBAND, won a jury verdict against its competitor, Metaswitch Networks.
On Friday, January 15, a jury in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Texas found that Metaswitch infringed seven (7) of GENBAND's patents, and awarded $8.2 million in damages. GENBAND’s patents cover important Voice-over-IP technology, and can be found in GENBAND’s industry-leading softswitches, media gateways and session border controllers.
GENBAND and Metaswitch compete in selling the Voice-over-IP technology involved in this case. GENBAND intends to seek a permanent injunction and other relief from Metaswitch’s infringement.
"Baker Botts lawyers try cases and are widely recognized leaders in patent litigation.
