HOUSTON, May 16, 2013 -- The Corporate department at Baker Botts L.L.P. placed 17th -- up from 20th in 2012 -- among the nation’s best corporate law firms as selected by directors of publicly traded companies, according to results in the legal research study “America’s Best Corporate Law Firms 2013” produced by Corporate Board Member magazine and sponsored by FTI Consulting, Inc.
This is the 13th edition of the Legal Research Study. Approximately 9,500 directors of publicly traded companies participated in the survey, according to Corporate Board Member. The directors were provided a list of national corporate law firms pulled from three rankings publications -- the National Law Journal’s Top 75, the American Law’s Top 75 and the Vault Overall 75.
Survey respondents were asked to select 10 national firms from the list provided or to write in a firm they would most likely turn to for corporate legal matters of national scope. Among the list of top concerns for respondents were M&A, executive compensation, leadership succession, regulatory compliance, shareholder communications and data and cyber security.
“This endorsement of our Corporate team by directors from many of the nation’s leading public companies is an honor,” said David Kirkland, chair of Baker Botts’ Corporate department. “We remain committed to our focus on ensuring that we provide our clients the best service possible every day.”
