Law360 M&A MVP: Firm’s David Kirkland

Release
HOUSTON, November 21, 2011 -- Law360 editors selected Baker Botts’ David Kirkland as an “M&A MVP” for 2011. In an article posted to Mergers & Acquisitions Law360 on November 18, 2011, the publication notes that Kirkland “has been the deal maker par excellence in the energy sector … in transactions valued at $12.5 billion.”

Kirkland, the report states, “has firmly established a leading M&A practice with a particular renown in the oilfield services industry, where his grasp of the business paradigm and his knack for sealing deals regularly puts him in the middle of front-page transactions.”

The energy sector was an M&A hotspot in 2011, the Law360 article states, as investors and developers pursued massive shale plays in the U.S., “in turn causing a surge in demand for infrastructure and oilfield service companies. During the past year, Kirkland represented energy service giants John Wood Group PLC, Schlumberger Ltd. and offshore driller Pride International Inc.
